MARCH

The Monday League, this competition runs over nine months, each member plays all the others and make their own arrangements for playing these matches. Starting on the second Monday in March and played on every second Monday of each month until November.

The Winter Challenge Singles Competition held on a Saturday around March 22nd, opens our summer season. Commencing with a series of leagues, and continues with knockout rounds among the qualifiers, through to a final at around 4.00 pm.

MAY

Triples Competition. A new competition to us, teams of three will be made up from the entrants. To equalise the teams playing standards the Club Captain will select the teams, where possible, so that they consist of one shooter and two pointers.

JUNE

The Skills Competition played on a Monday in June, around the 16th, weather permitting, this event is where each member will try to out-point the others, with a demonstration of their shooting and pointing skills.

AUGUST

The Singles Challenge Competitions for both Ladies and also for Men played on the first Saturday in August takes the form of a series of leagues, continuing with knockout rounds among the qualifiers.
Given a sufficient number of entries, there will be a Plate competition organised for those who are eliminated from the main event.
The tea interval will be targeted for 4.00 pm, with the final matches to follow.

A doubles challenge match between the District and Town Councils will be played simultaneously with our own finals.

OCTOBER

Our final event is the Autumn Doubles Competition played on the first Saturday in October. In this event each team plays all the others, with a limit on time allowed for each game. There are no trimmings, just almost continuous play, expected to finish at around 4.30 pm. Enter with the partner of your choice, or take your chance with a partner drawn from other unattached entries.

All the competitions commence at 1.30 pm sharp, but please arrive for registration by 1.15 pm. There is generally an entrance fee for the Saturday competitions to cover some of the outlay for the event.

Volunteers are needed to assist in running our special events, this includes helping to prepare the piste, erect the gazebos, as well as with the paperwork on the day.

HERTS & ESSEX LEAGUE

From October to April we take part in the Herts & Essex League and are required to play two a matches a month, on a Sunday. It is a heavy commitment for us, but we do manage to meet it, and generally manage to hold our own. If you would like to play on a Sunday this is the one for you, just have a word with the Club Captain.
